Downloading and Using Images
ASSIGNMENT: Go out on the Internet and locate two pictures for this assignment.
One must take the form of a horizontal rule and the other must simply be a
cartoon of some kind. Searching the web is one skill and saving images is
another. To save an image, you simply right click on it and pull the mouse
down to Save Picture as... Then you must select the directory you
wish to save it in (by now that shouldn't be a problem for you). To subsequently
use your image on a web page which you create, you simply use the IMG tag. There
are plenty of examples of how to do this on this page. You will use your HR
image twice on the page of your creation and you will show your cartoon image
three times. The cartoon image will be displayed at three different sizes.
Distortion is a problem whenever you change the size of an image. (It's also
more of a problem when dealing with .jpg files than with .png files, for
instance.) The rule is
that you should never enlarge or shrink an image by more than ten percent. The
images on this page definately broke that rule! Searching for proper images to
use for this assignment might be time consuming. Making the page should be a
snap. Include some sort of a title at the top of the page.
