More Fun With The DIV Tag

Oddity Using DIVs

Columns:
You can make columns using the DIV tag. This actually comes out better on certain machines than it does here. But the point is that you can make sections on your web page using the DIV tag. You can include graphics, text, and whatever else you have in these sections just like with any other method of formatting your page. The next section contains a sample newspaper article to help the student get started on this assignment.
NASA To Use Trona
As Next Launch Site

A spokesman for NASA confirmed that Trona, California (a small town in the Mojave Desert), will be the location for a series of launches scheduled to begin early in 2026. This announcement was made at a White House Press Conference just before President Trump made a short speech in which he outlined his reasons for backing the continued expansion of the space program.

A small group of protesters from Trona demonstrated in front of the White House at the time of the announcement. Their chief complaint was that they were afraid that the launch site would prove to be an eye sore. A spokesman for the group explained that Trona was proud of its beautiful chemical plant and that they didn't want to see the rare beauty of the plant tarnished by a NASA launch site.

Assignment:
The student will create a web page with a total of seven sections in the form of a three by two grid with a title area above the grid which spans the entire page. There will be three columns and two rows. Each section will use a different background color. In each of the six sections below the title will be a little newspaper style article with its own little headline. Each article should be at least eighty words long (not counting the headline). The title area at the top of the page should contain a fictitious newspaper name.
