Abbreviations

Some words have standard abbreviations. An abbreviation allows you to use a shortened form of a word. Most abbrevitions begin with a capital letter and end with a period. Here are some examples: 


	ABBREVIATION		FULL WORD
	 Mr.			 Mister
	 Dr. 			 Doctor
	 Jr.			 Junior
	 St.			 Street
	 Rd.			 Road
	 Blvd.			 Boulevard
	 Ave.			 Avenue
The days of the week all have standard abbreviations:

	 Mon.			 Monday
	 Tues.			 Tuesday
	 Wed.			 Wednesday
	 Thurs.			 Thursday
	 Fri.			 Friday
	 Sat.			 Saturday
  	 Sun.			 Sunday
