Helping Verbs
Here are some common helping verbs:
am is are was were
could shall will being be
may can might would should
did do had has have
Here are some sample sentences using a few of these helping verbs.
We would have gone if we had a ride.
There have been some hot days lately.
They might be coming to see us tonight.
They were going to the zoo.
They were at the meeting.
As you recall, a verb is an action word. Helping verbs work with regular
verbs (or sometimes along with another helping verb).
That's why more than one word is underlined in the examples shown
above. Here are a few more examples.
They will leave soon.
The dogs are barking at the moon.
I am tired already.
