Commas

The comma can be used in a few different ways. In this lesson we are going to discuss the use of the comma in specifying locations and dates. Here are some sample locations:

	Dallas, Texas Trona, California

	Boise, Idaho Augusta, Maine

	Elko, Nevada St. George, Utah

Most often you will specify the location in addressing a letter:

	Sam Jones
	444 Elm Street
	Trona, California 93562

We can also use state postal abbreviations to save us some writing:

	Elko, NV Camden, ME

	Trona, CA Hurricane, UT

You may also see locations in sentences like this:

Joe spent a week in Beatty, Nevada.

I sent the letter to Trona, California.

Mary will visit Ridgecrest, California, while on vacation.

Remember that there should always be a single space following a comma.
