Root Words
Many words can be formed by adding a prefix to another word. Consider these
examples:
re + match = rematch
dis + lodge = dislodge
un + tangle = untangle
The prefix is the short word part which is added to the root word. It
modifies the meaning of the root word. For instance, untangle is the
opposite of tangle since "un" means not.
Here are a few more examples:
re + search = research
re + do = redo
un + do = undo
